DO NOT use bleach to clean our products. Bleach can deteriorate the ropes and cause
discoloration.Â
Our stands come with a thin coat of oil from the factory, meant to protect it on the way to you. However, if you want to keep your stand in the best condition possible, we recommend applying an outdoor-grade wood oil product every six months to one year (more often if you expect your stand to be frequently wet). You can even use boiled linseed oil or tung oil, as long as you are OK with the color change those oils cause.
Avoid wood "sealer" products. Moisture sealed into the wood, which isn't allowed to escape, can damage the stand over time.
You can use a tinted wood oil or wood stain if you want to change the color of your stand. Test the stain on an inconspicuous part of the stand first to make sure you like the new color.
Although or wooden stands can withstand most winter environments and the cold temperatures they bring, frequent freeze-thaw cycles can weaken the wood. It's best to cover the stand or move it under shelter during the winter to protect it from ice, snow, or winter rain.
